Why do we have seasons?

We have seasons because Earth leans. Sometimes we lean toward the Sun. Days feel warm and bright. Later we lean away. Days feel colder.

That is summer. When we lean away, the light is weaker, and days are shorter, so it gets cold. It is like turning your face toward a lamp, then away.

Its axis, an imaginary line from the North Pole to the South Pole, does not stand straight up. When your half of Earth leans toward the Sun, sunlight hits more directly and days are longer, so it warms up. That is summer. When it leans away, sunlight is weaker and days are shorter, so it cools down. Fun fact: Earth is actually closest to the Sun in January, when many places have winter.
