How does a boat float on water?
A boat floats on water because it is designed to displace (push away) a certain amount of water that is equal to its weight. This means that the boat pushes down on the water and the water pushes back up on the boat, keeping it afloat.
It's like when you try to push a big ball into a pool, the water pushes back and keeps the ball from going all the way down. The shape of the boat also helps it to stay on top of the water.
